Bandar Seri Begawan: The Ministry of Health has announced stiffer penalties following another review of the Tobacco Act 2005.

Among the no-go areas for smokers are government buildings, commercial areas, bus stations and bus stops, food outlets and within six metres of a building compound where smoking is prohibited.

The enforcement unit responsible for stifling the use of tobacco has come down hard on smokers this year.

The enforcement unit under the ministry will continue to conduct surveillance and take the appropriate actions against offenders.
